"All we have is the knowledge passed on to us by our elders, experiences we inculcate and hardly negate. But to bridge the generation gap, one needs to adapt to the new while retaining the goodness of the old.”

- Sonali Bendre

Our wise Elders Committee, here to guide and share their insights:

In the last update of the Constitution, a committee of Elders was established, which is composed of 5 past presidents, elected for a 4 year term by the AGM.

The role of the Elders is clearly defined in the Constitution: It is limited to an advisory capacity to the elected Committee, and its only power is  to call an Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EGM), should the community feel a need for it.

In essence it is there to ensure good governance and does not interfere with the day-to-day management of the Community.

(Past members include Demetri Zitiannelis, Mike Comitis and the late George Scalcoyiannis – the community is so grateful for their guidance).

The current members are Mano Caldis, Ari Esthahiou, Fotis Sousalis, Lakis Parolis and Nassos Martalas.

2500 Years Ago Leonidas Led 300 Spartans To Defend The Ideals Of Hellenism

Help us build a flourishing Greek community in Cape Town.

The Community’s main focus is ensuring that the church and its related buildings are maintained and upgraded. We rely on subscriptions and collections to raise money for this purpose, but these funds alone won’t meet the needs of our parish.

Like the 300 Spartans, we call upon 300 warriors to each contribute R300 a month to be used for the maintenance and upgrading of the church complex.

By becoming a Spartan, you’ll play a key role in preserving our religious heritage for this generation and for generations to come.
